These catacombs were primarily used as burial sites during the first centuries of Christianity. The Roman catacombs originated during the period of the Roman Empire, beginning in the second century.

Finestre sull'Arte is a journalistic publication focused on ancient and contemporary art as well as cultural policies. The newspaper, founded in 2017, originates from the eponymous educational project, which in 2015 received the Silvia Dell'Orso Award as the best Italian project for historical-artistic dissemination.
