Nov 25, 2024 · A way to randomize outcomes will always have a place in gaming and dice as a component for it is too well-known to give up entirely. Clearly some strong bias is at work despite supposedly being integrated into the industry. Perhaps a sect exists, where dice are vilified, but that's hardly where everyone is headed.

May 2, 2012 · no gaming company is going to spend the money for casino quality dice. Since there is no money on the line, neither am I. "Precision" dice have mold sprue tabs and plent of what I percieve as imperfections. Wood dice look nice, but frequently have knots and variables that favor certain sides.

Jul 23, 2013 · Oh, I wasn't criticising the quality of casino dice. The problem with using them for gaming is that they're intended for throwing down a padded craps pit, not for rolling onto a tabletop, where their size and weight make them difficult to roll properly. Edit: ninja'd again.

The games that I have designed do not use dice (some RPG-s for friends from 25years ago do) but that is because I like making games without dice. The games I play have dice (most of them) and I love playing them.
