Marvel has delayed its Blade reboot indefinitely and MCU fans are all making the same joke linking back to the studio's most recent smash hit Deadpool and Wolverine. As soon as the news broke, Deadpool 3 fans were quick to mention that hilarious moment in the 2024 movie when Wesley Snipes’ Blade claims there will never be another Blade.

Marvel Studios has officially removed Blade from its release schedule, leaving the Daywalker's long-delayed reboot undated. However, three movies have been added to the next Phase of storytelling in 2028.

It turns out that line from Marvel's mega-hit Deadpool and Wolverine may have been just as prescient as it is funny, as Marvel Studios' Mahershala Ali starring Blade reboot film has been removed from Disney's release schedule entirely, as reported by Deadline.

It was during San Diego Comic-Con in 2019 that Marvel announced two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali would play the superhero Blade in a new Marvel film set to arrive in theaters potentially as soon as late 2021 or early 2022.

Once upon a time, Marvel was supposed to shoot scenes for “Blade” in Cleveland. Two years later, the status of the film is unclear after Disney pulled it from its Nov. 7, 2025 release date. “Predator: Badlands” will take its place on the calendar.

Marvel has every reason to reboot Blade for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it's time to give up on the Mahershala Ali-led version of the film.
