Business leaders and employers across the United States, including in Chicago, are raising alarms over immigration raids as President-elect Donald Trump prepares to implement his mass deportation policy.

The incoming Trump administration is reportedly beginning mass deportations next week in the city and across the U.S. Rep. Jesus “Chuy” Garcia said "the current threats are nothing new" and advocates are ready to fight for and protect the community.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson reiterated his opposition to anticipated immigration reform policies when President-elect Trump returns to the White House this week.

Trump campaigned largely on the issue of immigration, promising to carry out mass deportations of roughly 11 million illegal immigrants currently in the U.S.
