Harrods has said more than 250 people are part of its process to settle compensation claims over alleged historic sexual misconduct by Mohamed Al Fayed. The London department store said it had “settled a number of claims with women” made against its former owner since last year.

More than 200 women are now in settlement talks with Harrods over alleged abuse by its former owner Mohamed Al Fayed, the upmarket London department store said Thursday.

The former captain of Fulham's women’s team, Ronnie Gibbons, says she was “groped” on two occasions by the late Mohamed Al Fayed when he owned the club.

Yet twice she found herself trapped in a room above the luxury Harrods department store in Knightsbridge, central London, as the club’s billionaire owner, Mohamed Al Fayed, tried to “forcefully” kiss her, made her sit on his knee while he stroked her, then groped her when she tried to get out.

A BBC documentary said the Egyptian billionaire, who died last year, had sexually abused female staff at Harrods in London and had threatened them if they tried to complain.

The store says the women alleging sexual misconduct against Mohamed Al Fayed came forward after a BBC documentary aired.
