The 37-year-old man convicted of murdering his wife’s 47-year-old ex-lover, Jon Tokuhara, will not be sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.

After more than a month of testimony, evidence and more, jurors have brought the Eric Thompson murder trial to an end after deciding his fate.

Thompson’s first trial in 2023 ended in a mistrial when the jury could not reach a unanimous verdict. This time around, the jury found Thompson guilty of murder in the second degree. He was also found guilty of a firearm charge. Shortly after the verdict was read, the state’s motion to revoke bail was granted and Thompson was taken into custody.
