The death of a 20-year-old Southern University student in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is being investigated by local law enforcement as a possible act of fraternity hazing, school authorities confirmed to The Associated Press on Wednesday.

The Baton Rouge Police Department is hosting a news conference on Friday morning related to the hazing investigation that led to the death of Southern University student Caleb Wilson, who was unresponsive after participating in an unsanctioned fraternity ritual.

Investigators say that Caleb Wilson, 20, a student at Southern University in Baton Rouge, La., collapsed after being hit with boxing gloves as part of a pledging ritual for Omega Psi Phi.
