Airstrike in Syria kills senior official in al-Qaida affiliate, CENTCOM says
On Jan. 30, U.S. forces launched an airstrike in northwestern Syria that killed a high-ranking member of a terrorist group with ties to al-Qaida, according to U.S. Central Command. Muhammad Salah al-Za’bir was a senior operative in Hurras al-Din, CENTCOM said late Thursday in a statement, which added that the fatal strike had occurred the same day.

The U.S. military said on Sunday that it killed a senior official of an al Qaeda affiliate during an airstrike in northwest Syria the day before. U.S. Central Command described the person in a statement as a "senior finance and logistics official in the terrorist organization Hurras al-Din.
