Dry, gusty conditions in Northeastern Illinois led the National Weather Service to issue a fire weather watch for the entire Chicago area Monday. Here's a breakdown of what it means.

A wind advisory and a fire weather watch were issued Monday for parts of the Chicago area, the National Weather Service said, with dry air and gusty winds of up to 50 miles-per-hour possible at times.

CHICAGO (CBS) — Fire crews responded to a house fire Saturday morning in the South Chicago neighborhood. Flames and smoke were seen pouring from the home near 83rd and Brandon Avenue around 7 a.m. Firefighters were able to douse the flames. The roof was left charred, and part of it caved in.

“This is not a crossover night. This is a three-hour film. This is a movie that happens to have all of your favorite One Chicago characters in it,” he dished to Us. “It is so large in scale, it is bigger than anything we’ve ever done. It is insanely impressive.”

Extreme cold has settled on the Chicago area, making the job of firefighting harder than usual. Just such an example of such challenges came up Tuesday afternoon in the Pilsen neighborhood, where a fire broke out in a duplex house and sent a man to the hospital in critical condition.

CHICAGO RIDGE, Ill. – Residents of a Chicago Ridge apartment are displaced after a large fire ripped through the building. The fire happened Saturday evening near 105th Street and Brooks Lane. Smoke was seen billowing out of the three-story building.
