PITTSBURGH -- One week after making his NFL debut, wide receiver Roman Wilson suffered a minor hamstring injury that limited his participation during the team’s final two days of practice leading up to their game against the New York Jets. According to head coach Mike Tomlin, that is all it took for Wilson to be ruled out.

Availability is the best ability. And, simply put, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Roman Wilson hasn’t been available to Mike Tomlin. Short of five snaps ( no targets) versus the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 6, Wilson has had a non-existent rookie season, no thanks to an ankle injury sustained during the first week of training camp.

Entering Week 7, the Pittsburgh Steelers had a 4-2 record with Justin Fields under center. However, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin made a bold move when he decided to make the change to Russell Wilson as the team's starting quarterback.
