Overnight, our attention shifts from the potential icy spots to the dangerous cold. Most of the area is under an Extreme Cold Warning through 9 a.m. Thursday. This means wind chills could be as cold as ten below zero.

An arctic front will arrive in North Texas on Tuesday, bringing freezing rain, frigid temperatures and possibly sub-zero wind chills to the region. A winter weather advisory for parts of the Metroplex, including Tarrant and Dallas counties, will go into effect at 5 p.m. and last until midnight, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth.

With the arrival of an Arctic blast, the region could see the coldest air of the season Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service. It expects wind chills in the area to dip into single digit in the metroplex.
