AUSTIN, Texas — Austin opened its cold weather shelters on Saturday night as an Arctic cold front is set to bring the coldest weather of the season to Central Texas.

During this week's cold snap and winter storm, animal protection agencies in our area have been working non-stop to keep pets safe. Sadly, they've gotten many calls about people leaving their animals out in the elements.

Immigration authorities did not say whether anyone was detained or what kinds of offenses the people sought Sunday were suspected of doing.

However, as we track through the beginning portions of next week, we're tracking only modest 20% rain chacnes for Monday and Tuesday with highs slowly increasing each day. The best rain chances don't come until Thursday and Friday.
