Georgian mixed martial artist Merab Dvalishvili on Sunday beat his Russian opponent Umar Nurmagomedov, leading a successful defence of his UFC bantamweight championship at Intuit Dome arena in Los Angeles.

Merab Dvalishvili successfully defended his UFC bantamweight championship against the previously undefeated Umar Nurmagomedov at UFC 311.

Dvalishvili (19-4 MMA, 12-2 UFC) had to win 10-straight fights – including wins over former champions Jose Aldo, Petr Yan, and Henry Cejudo before earning his title shot. He dethroned Sean O’Malley to become UFC bantamweight champion this past September, but didn’t get too much time to enjoy his accomplishment.

Merab Dvalishvili’s latest win at UFC 311 drew some glowing praise from a former opponent and future UFC Hall of Famer.
