It's a real shame that the best foldable phone of the year is only available in two regions. Samsung's release of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition brings about all of the upgrades we hoped to see in the Fold 6,

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 has been discounted by $500 if bought directly from Samsung’s website and shoppers have no device to trade in. If a handset is swapped, Samsung has again upped prices for used phones. Alongside that Samsung is knocking a further $300 off the Galaxy Fold 6 when purchased in navy, pink or silver.

Featuring more RAM, a better camera, and larger screens, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition is thinner, lighter, and bigger than the regular model, but it's unlikely to leave Korea.

As for a cheaper alternative, Samsung appears to have no plans to make a cheaper foldable, with an official saying to Korean outlet Sisa Journal (translated for Korean), “As of now, we have no plans to release a separate product with a lower price.” It doesn’t really get any clearer than that.

The Huawei Mate XT is currently the only tri-fold phone on the market, and its not available outside China. Since Huawei is banned from selling phones in the US and rarely launches its flagships internationally, Samsung could become the first company to globally release a tri-fold smartphone.
