Remedy has detailed the sort of technical enhancements future PS5 Pro owners can look forward to when playing Alan Wake 2 on Sony's upgraded console. The game will retain the same Performance and Quality modes available on base PS5 systems,

Remedy also claims that Pro performance mode has improved fog, volumetric lighting, shadow accuracy and image stability. The company further explains that performance mode for the PS5 Pro is superior to the base PS5’s quality mode in terms of output resolution and visual detail. The render detail isn’t exactly the same, but it’s close.

Remedy shared its process in upgrading Alan Wake 2 for the PS5 Pro, explaining that increasing the rendering resolution was among the easiest routes to improve image quality. It also experimented by upgrading the 60fps Performance mode output from 1440p to 4k and adding PSSR, which "positively impacted image crispness and stability under motion."

While the PlayStation 5 Pro will offer improvements for thousands of games, only a select few will fully leverage the power of Sony's new console, meaning they will perform better than on the base system.

When Alan Wake 2 was released in October of last year, it didn't feature ray tracing. That's about to change when the PS5 Pro is released. Players can expect ray tracing in Alan Wake 2's Quality Mode on the PS5 Pro, which enables ray-traced reflections on opaque and transparent surfaces.
