With bird flu cases cropping up across the country — including in Virginia — members of the state’s Democratic congressional delegation are demanding the immediate reinstatement of disease and virus reports after President Donald Trump’s administration ordered a pause in Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) communications.

The ongoing bird flu outbreak has continued to affect multiple industries in the Richmond area and other parts of the U.S., including farms and restaurants.

ROANOKE, Va. – Bird flu cases have been on the rise recently. A chicken flock in Accomack County tested positive, and two birds had it at the Metro Richmond Zoo in January. No one has contracted bird flu in the Commonwealth yet, but doctors still want you to be careful.

Six cases of bird flu have been reported in Maryland, as of Feb. 2, according to the Department of Agriculture (MDA).
