U.S. national team midfielder Jaedyn Shaw has been acquired by the North Carolina Courage in a trade with the San Diego Wave.

San Diego Wave FC granted Jaedyn Shaw's wish, sending the midfielder, part of the U.S. national team, to the North Carolina Courage.

The last year for the San Diego Wave has included a number of notable departures. That continued Tuesday morning with the club announcing a trade that sends 20-year-old star forward Jaedyn Shaw to North Carolina.

This NWSL offseason marks a new era, and it was ushered in by U.S. emerging talent Jaedyn Shaw requesting a trade from the San Diego Wave to the North Carolina Courage. As of Wednesday, Jan. 15, teams can no longer trade players without their consent under the new collective bargaining agreement — bargained for and ratified by the league,
