Union Consumer Affairs Ministry, had issued notices to Ola and Uber earlier this week amid rising allegations that iPhone users were charged higher compared to customers using Android devices to book identical rides.

Ola and Uber have denied allegations of differential pricing based on phone models, stating they don't set fares based on a user's phone manufacturer. This comes after the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) sent notices to the companies following reports of varying fares for identical rides depending on whether customers used iPhones or Android devices.

The denial comes a day after the Centre slapped notices over allegations that Apple users were being charged higher prices for rides of similar distances.

Ola Consumer denies allegations of fare discrepancies based on mobile phone type, asserting uniform pricing for all users. The claims arose after the Central Consumer Protection Authority intervened following media reports of pricing disparities between iPhone and Android users.

The Consumer Affairs Ministry issued notices to both cab aggregators after several reports of Ola and Uber charging different fares for the same ride on the same route. Notably, the fares were being charged based on whether the user was an Android or iPhone user.
