Dame Judi Dench always has someone with her when she is in public now for a reason. During a conversation on the “Fearless” podcast with Trinny Woodall, the esteemed actress was asked about attending industry events.

Dame Judi Dench is giving fans an update on her worsening eyesight. The heavily awarded British actor, who turned 90 last month, has revealed that she is no longer able to attend events alone due to vision loss.

Dame Judi Dench, who has the eye disease macular degeneration, revealed that she can no longer go out on her own due to her worsening vision.

The veteran English actress said that she now needed to attend public events with someone else, because of her worsening macular degeneration.

John, 77, revealed he was recovering from a “severe eye infection” in September 2024 that left him with “limited vision in one eye.” That November, he told Good Morning America he “can’t see anything” in his right eye as a result of the illness.

While there is no cure for age related macular degeneration, it can be slowed down with regular eye exams and checkups. As for Judi Dench, the actor now finds it difficult to read her scripts and memorise her lines.
