Duke’s Cooper Flagg of Newport, Maine — named The Associated Press men’s college basketball national player of the week earlier Tuesday after scoring an ACC freshman record 42 points against Notre Dame — had 13 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

The 6-foot-9 freshman forward scored 42 points in Saturday’s victory over Notre Dame to set an ACC freshman single-game record. He went 11 of 14 from the floor, making 4 of 6 3-pointers, and hit 16 of 17 foul shots — with the 16 made free throws standing as a Duke freshman record.

Flagg broke the Duke and ACC freshman scoring records with 42 points against Notre Dame and had seven assists, six rebounds and a steal. He shot 11 of 14 from the field, including 4 of 6 from three-point range, and connected on 16 of 17 free throws.

Duke freshman star Cooper Flagg made history in his team's 86-78 win over Notre Dame last weekend. Flagg set a single-game ACC freshman scoring record and finished with a career-high 42 points in Duke's 10th consecutive win.

Cooper Flagg is starting to get consideration for the Wooden Award. If he is to win he will be only the fourth freshman ever to win it.
