We came here for the Legion of Honor and walked through a part of the park after we left our car. It's lovely and there are terrific views of the Golden Gate and ocean.Full review by Thomas V

Q:
I'd like to see the sunset AFTER visiting the Legion of Honor museum. If I parked at the Museum, and returned around sunset: (1) Is it permitted? (2) Is it reasonably safe. (e.g. I don't mind being in the dark. I'm asking if the Park is subject to constant incidents). If it's safer to park near the Visitor Center (to avoid those incidents) (3) Is the parking lot a decent size? (50 spaces) (4) How long can I park there after the Center has closed? Thank you!

We took the bus to Lincoln Park, so I'm not sure about what the parking guidelines near the museum are. The parking lot is relatively small; maybe 20 or so spaces? I'm looking back at the photos we took of the area mid-July, and it's a very clean park, and I don't remember seeing any unsavory characters while we were there. I'd suggest contacting the SF parks department, or the museum itself, to see if they can answer some of your questions. Good luck.
